Pastoral Counselling of Children |
| Monday 26 to
Thursday 29 May |
 |
Immediately following the Kidsreach Conference (Monday 26 to
Thursday 29 May), Kidsreach is hosting a part of the Children's Ministry Diploma, an in-depth teaching on counselling children. This specialist four day course is designed to equip children's pastors, care workers, foster parents, school teachers and those in ministry to children. It will show those in Christian Ministry can and must develop a professional approach when dealing with children with deep needs. Children are body, soul & spirit. Christian workers must never forget the spiritual needs of children, but must also not ignore the emotional hurts.
Presented by David Goodwin, the course looks at skills and techniques of counselling children in order to equip children's pastors, counsellors, care workers, parents and those in ministry to children.
This course covers major issues related to counselling children who suffer from grief, neglect, abuse and trauma. It encompasses the whole counselling process including: the counselling relationship, listening skills, counselling techniques and bringing counselling to a conclusion.
Particular attention is paid to the role of the Holy Spirit in Counselling and identifying how Jesus engaged with people.
Delegates can apply to come to just day one of the course: An Introduction to Counselling - where many of the concepts and ideas will be introduced. The remaining days of the course will cover the subjects and counselling process in detail. |
